De facto Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno explained why he ordered Smith returned to US custody.
He said, “We spent enough time receiving guidance from the secretary of justice and our own lawyers and in the end, the decision was the correct thing to do. It reinforces the efficacy of the government as one that complies with its international commitments and agreements.”
De Facto Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez said his advice to Puno was “well thought-out.”
Gonzalez said, “You have to bite the bullet sometimes. I was listening to Boy Abunda [who said] that sometimes you have to make difficult decisions.”
Boy Abunda is co-host of “The Buzz”, a weekly showbiz gossip show aired on ABS-CBN.

Next to the “Hello..Garci” scandal, the transfer of “Smith..to US custody” on 29 Dec 2006 has strongly affirmed the WEAKNESS & DISASTROUS EMPIRE OF GLORIA, not to mention the political nature of this administration. They will do whatever is politically expedient and not what is legal. Forget honour & integrity.
Come to think of it, what the U.S. did was to actually unmask the frailty of Gloria’s government.
In the meantime, Gloria, and the rest are going to be bitting “the bullet” for a long time.
