Austere dinner (UPDATED 3)

Posted in Brownman's Posts by uniffors on the August 8th, 2009

(3rd UPDATE)

First Gentleman Mike Arroyo was left behind in New York because he had to wash the plates at Le Cirque. after the restaurant’s management caught him using the credit card of Martin Romualdez.

2nd UPDATE

Remonde added, “It was just dinner pure and simple. There was no partying.”

So it was okay to blow $20 K on a dinner as long as there was no making merry?

(update 1)

My good friend Ellen Tordesillas texted Palace spokesman Cerge Remonde for his reaction.

Yes, i was there. It was on the invitation of cong martin romualdez. Malacanan did not pay for it

So that takes care of who picked up the tab.

But that brings up the question whether or not it was appropriate for Gloria to even be seen at the scene of such lavish and ostentatious occasion. The New York Post thought it was incredible.

But then again, maybe Gloria was just trying to prove to the world her claim that the Philippines was not affected by the global financial and economic crisis. If that was the purpose of the dinner, to tell the world “Eat your heart out!” then she succeeded.

(original post)

Well, it’s one way of getting some publicity for a largely unreported working visit.

Hat tip to Ellen Tordesillas

“At the exchange rate of P47.75 to a dollar, the Le Cirque dinner of Gloria Arroyo and her friends cost the Filipino people P954,000 or almost P1 million.”

Who picked up the tab?

My thought on are only two things:

    1. In case Romualdez paid for it, where did he get the money?if he say his family is reach, where did his family got the money?by the way was he the son of coco?if yes, I rest my case

    2. It is easy to say that romualdez paid for it, it can be upon the instruction of the leprechaun, it has been done everytime, the boss is not seen paying the tab, but they really are the one’s (the boss) who paid for it.
    you get what I mean?

A continuation of the third update: Management upon learning that FG was using Romuladez’s card demanded another card. Impossible that the First Gentleman would have no credit card of his own. Voila! Management found one–American Express Platinum issued by a bank in San Fro, under the name of Jose Pidal.

My…… I thought Ms. Ellen’s post was great until I read it here. I also made a short post linking to her until I came here finding out this was more updated on the event.

BTW, I liked (no i love it!) your 3rd update…

“First Gentleman Mike Arroyo was left behind in New York because he had to wash the plates at Le Cirque. after the restaurant’s management caught him using the credit card of Martin Romualdez.”

“Some people have the nerve” (sabi ng isa kong kapitbahay)…

Thanks Philippines. I’m quite pleased with the 3rd update myself. It’s been awhile since I’ve come up with something like it. I guess it’s getting more difficult to make humor out of bonnie and clyde
