This is going to be a tough act to follow. Let’s see if the old coot can top this when he speaks next week.

    McCain/Palin versus Obama /Biden

I don’t think so… McCain himself admits he’s not an orator.

    Palin who?

The Equalizer, just turned on my TV to watch CNN: They’re talking about Sarah Palin as I type this.

Very tactical this McCain is… don’t know about his being strategical though.

The tough act to follow was the announcement of McCain’s VP running mate, Sarah Palin, also known as “The Baracuda” (a tough young lady of 44 years). From what I understand, she’s the governor of Wasila (?), Alaska–a population of 54,000 people.

Am watching her speech as I write this… from what she’s saying, she’s a super woman.

At any rate she sounds like a knock out… Absolutely great rhetoric coming out of her right now. She sounds like she’s an honest, competent leader.

    I’m impressed (for the moment)…

Great speaker — a ton better than Mr McCain!

She sounds more presidential than McCain — hahahaha!

McCain seems like a lil boy beside her… hahah!

She speaks straight… knows how to deliver “populist” lines, not bad.

Sarah Palin who has just finished her speech — she sounds like a no-nonsense woman. She’ll be an asset to the McCain campaign.

I noticed though that immediately after she finished her speech, McCain said something like “that was a good speech” or something like that to her ear, she didn’t acknowledge it — simply turned around to someone else and waved; not quite a gracious lady there… that body language shows here’s a woman who will he hard as nail.

Good or bad? Don’t really know. Probably works in Alaska but in Washington DC? But frankly, my first impression is good. Pity she ain’t a Democrat.

Now, the election battle is gonna be really good. Wonder how Biden’s gonna go in there, i.e., taking on a young woman; I mean not that he shouldn’t but someone who is capable of saying to him “bring it on”… Woman’s every bit of a fighter it seems.

McCain’s tactical move must have knocked the wind out of the Obama-Biden tandem for a split of a second.

Just learned that Gov Palin has been an NRA lifelong member… guess what? They say she isn’t nationally known? But that won’t be a handicap anymore. NRA, one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the United States of America will be there — all the of the NRA, its grass roots-gun toting members, its entire force will be mobilised to work out for her. She will have no problem reaching out to every political nook and cranny of the United States, no stone will be left unturned to introduce her to every gun-wielding voter in America. I’m sure legions of rednecks arenow signing up as her campaign volunteers even as we speak. She’s just earned herself a ticket to the national political stardom!

    Heather!

Good on you and your husband.

No need to be a redneck to own a gun. I do too and ah can tell ya i ain’t no redneck…

Smart move by McCain to try to get disgruntled women Clintonites by offering Palin. Not an impressive choice though. There are other more qualified Republican women he could have chosen. I guess McCain is scared he will be upstaged by better Republican women like Condi Rice.

I still go for the third choice. Won’t go for either McCain or Obama.

Is this Palin the excuse to vote for McCain?

  21. uniffors said,

All I can say to those who consider Palin the tipping point for transferring their allegiance to McCain is a quote from Obama’s speech:

“You make a big election about small things.”

It’s an obvious ploy to court Hillary votes But really, except for a vagina, what does she have in common with Hillary?

The choice is cynical. It shows McCain believes Hillary’s voters are stupid.

I’m not impressed with Palin, “The Barracuda”.
