Ang laking insulto sa Department of Foreign Affairs ang kumento ni Serge Remonde, secretary for government media, na tama lang na i-appoint si Bobi Tiglao na ambassador sa Greece.
Sabi ni Remonde, “He has undergone a serious heart operation and he deserves to take it easier.” (Na-operahan siya sa puso at dapat lang na relax lang siya.)
BROWNMAN UPDATE :
Jove Franciso, a newsman for GMA 7 -TV, writes in his blog, By Jove , about the unbelievable security measures in place at the embattled midget’s Palace. (Check out his story at www.jovefrancisco.com) Francisco’s blog is an insider’s account of the Malacanan press corps. It’s worth visiting every so often if only to get a flavor of the news behind the news.
BROWNMAN reprints this post from the pldt.com website. Smart people are “laging handa”. This is your survival kit.
THINGS TO DO IN A NATIONAL EMERGENCY
BROWNMAN reprints the following from the Hot Manila website. For your enjoyment.
Hot Manila’s ten reasons why you wouldn’t want Gloria to be your labandera:
In part two of the series on insanity, we move from the Senate to Malacañang.
The first crackpot, we described as trying to get a different result from doing the same thing in the same way. The second case is slightly different.
Reprinted in full is Amb. Cruz’s reply to the UNIFFORS letter on “Impeachable Acts in the Foreign Service.” The UNIFFORS letter is also reprinted in full. Tordesilla’s column can be accessed by clicking on the link provided.
Amb.Cruz’s letter trashes UNIFFORS but, heck, debate is healthy. That’s why UNIFFORS does not censor feedbacks. (more…)
Mr. Hamoy’s defense of Ambassador Modena is the best proof of the attitude problem of some people in the Foreign Service. Instead of admitting they stepped out of line by comparing the Israeli police to the Nazis, they pat themselves on the back by claiming that an impulsively written letter to the editor of an Israeli newspaper is sensitivity to the plight of Filipinos in Israel “where embassy officers and staff spring into action whenever they hear of OFWs being maltreated.” (more…)
Miss Ellen Tordesillas commented in her 21 October column that “Modena is not perfect. He has his faults as well as virtues…his heart is in the right place.”
UNIFFORS believes that Mr. Modena’s mouth and pen are in the wrong place. For his grave insult to the Israeli people when he compared their police to the Nazis who tortured the Jews before World War II and engaged in systematic genocide during that war, he could have been expelled outright but the Israelis decided to accept his public apology. Calibrated preemptive response ( CPR ) is a policy that has not been defined clearly by either Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo or her minions. But judging by the administration’s actuations in several crises that have struck the presidency the past four months, the overriding objective of CPR is to insure the political survival of Mrs. Arroyo.
