Ang laking insulto sa Department of Foreign Affairs ang kumento ni Serge Remonde, secretary for government media, na tama lang na i-appoint si Bobi Tiglao na ambassador sa Greece.
Sabi ni Remonde, “He has undergone a serious heart operation and he deserves to take it easier.” (Na-operahan siya sa puso at dapat lang na relax lang siya.)

Mr. Hamoy’s defense of Mr. Modena
Mr. Hamoy’s defense of Ambassador Modena is the best proof of the attitude problem of some people in the Foreign Service. Instead of admitting they stepped out of line by comparing the Israeli police to the Nazis, they pat themselves on the back by claiming that an impulsively written letter to the editor of an Israeli newspaper is sensitivity to the plight of Filipinos in Israel “where embassy officers and staff spring into action whenever they hear of OFWs being maltreated.” (more…)
Comparing the Israeli police to the Nazis
Dear Colleagues,
Miss Ellen Tordesillas commented in her 21 October column that “Modena is not perfect. He has his faults as well as virtues…his heart is in the right place.”
UNIFFORS believes that Mr. Modena’s mouth and pen are in the wrong place. For his grave insult to the Israeli people when he compared their police to the Nazis who tortured the Jews before World War II and engaged in systematic genocide during that war, he could have been expelled outright but the Israelis decided to accept his public apology. But judging by the administration’s actuations in several crises that have struck the presidency the past four months, the overriding objective of CPR is to insure the political survival of Mrs. Arroyo.
